Intense time this afternoon. An older guy sits at entrance to mall, I won’t call him a beggar; he just waits patiently. I could see someone talking to him, an unkempt, drunk guy, trying to steal his money. I told him to go away but he looked threateningly at me. Asked staff at a store to call security, they said, “they don’t do anything.” A big guy came and moved him on. Poor old guy was bleeding from one eye, he’d been hit. I offered to call ambulance or police; no, he was adamant. Wouldn’t even accept my clean handkerchief to blot the blood.
