To me it seems that the tech industry, by outsourcing heavily to "cheaper" locations, is doing the same mistake the manufacturing industry did by outsourcing everything to China.
Now no one except for China is able to manufacture things (and we are right now facing the consequences of such decisions).
In a few years NO ONE IN USA OR EUROPE WILL BE IN CONTROL OF SOFTWARE ANYMORE (and hardware as well per my previous point)
