Some people have proposed creating algorithmic lenses that people can apply to their feeds, so surface different sets of posts. I'm not opposed to that, as long as its optional and privacy-respecting. But I think what we really need on the net, circa 2024, is not more recommendation algorithms, but more active curation by humans.
My prediction for the next decade is that the floods of ad-baiting filler and fluff, amplified by AI-generation tools, will make human curation essential.
