You Don't Have to Do What Others Say or Live
I felt hurt when the teacher at the gymnasium said that we didn't have to attend the school, that it was our free choice to be there.
In my mind, I screamed, "What do you know about my life? How complicated it is?"
I didn't have money, and in that place and time, I didn't know ways to earn it. And money was the ticket to a free world.
And now we are adults, with so many possibilities to get closer to what we want in life.
Money doesn't stop us as much as our own convictions, formed in times when the world looked completely different than it does today. So why do we still cling to them when they complicate everything?
Often, we just lack enough energy, the energy we gradually depleted in arguments, in decisions that seemed to bring us trouble. Troubles that I saw as problems, but maybe they brought us experiences that we couldn't have had back then.
We feel trapped in a vicious circle and don't know what to do now.
Or should we do nothing?
What if all it takes is to empty our minds so that the opportunities we long for can naturally come to us? What if we are just overwhelmed?
After every, even unwillingly, I go into nature. To the silence and tranquility, sometimes I walk fast, other times slowly. But every time, I'm glad I set out on the journey. I observe the horizon, encounter woodland creatures, and naturally, all thoughts drift away.
I preserve this feeling to transfer it onto the canvas. And when I look at the painting, I feel the same way. In every moment when I don't know what to do first and how to decide, I look at the painting and let the power of nature affect me to make a space for what really matters to me.
