Our apartment building is very disproportionately retired people who moved here decades ago when it was cheap and never left. This turns out to have quite the advantage for socially anxious foreigners like me: every time something is even the slightest bit wrong with the building, they have nothing better to do than be absolute terrors about it to the maintenance company
