Allen’s hummingbird from a few Novembers ago. This was the boldest hummingbird I ever knew; its defensive instincts drew it to frequently chase and display. An active bird, especially one so relatively small, is a challenging photo subject, but they offer good practice. And for one as beautiful as him, the photographic results can be memorable.
