Recently, some countries have restarted attempts to buy new nuclear reactors. In this post, I first set out why getting new nuclear power by 2038 is a nuts idea, but then take a look at energy diversification, which changes the picture a bit. However, the way we are going about ordering nuclear power is just plain wrong, and it is unlikely we'll do better. If so, we are better off spending the nuclear trillions on other ways of getting carbon-free and reliable energy:
