A few days after reading this, I watched a muck-raker (FalseEyeD, but I know others are worse by orders of magnitude) talking about the nijisanji drama. So much ooking and eeking over the internals of a business none of us work for is absurd, and it struck me how well the behavior fits into the pattern that the article elucidates.

The host of the show reiterates something like "we're not a hate mob!" to his audience, trying to play up the self-righteous justification for the absurdity.

Because it's not really a hate mob if you're checks notes "raising awareness of a social problem." Having fabricated the excuse, the hate flows freely.

What did people like this do with themselves before the internet? 🤷

This article is a slog, but it's fascinating. If you ever wanted to have proof that totally vindicates you're right about the types of people that are in creative spaces, that the reason stories suck these days is because of troon gate keeping, this article has it all. What's shocking is that the woman who wrote it still seems totally oblivious.
