Catch-22, mini series, 2019
I haven’t read the novel, so I don’t know if they changed the story or characters, but as it is, this is the best show I’ve seen in a long time
It was written in the 50s, published in 61, so I guess the brutal absurdism that runs consistently through it is faithful
Not only does that feel genuine, it feels fresh and unusual too. And the balance between overt and situational laughs, the dark absurdism, and the shocking visceral grotesqueries is precision work 👌🏻
