Because unity was built with a global menu bar first they could do some things. So apps that supported it would have like.. File, insert, view and whatever normally you have in a menu bar also searchable...
So if you wanted to change the footer of your text document or something but you don't remember that you have to go to format -> page -> layout -> footer options..
