Common approach is hide behind Cloudflare. Not really a fan of outsourcing ddos protection by inserting a middle man who KYC’s you, but that’s usually how it’s handled. If not cloudflare, your hosting provider.
This is an alternative with an extremely high barrier to entry for an all self-hosted pleb, but with some concessions it would work well:
Other weaker mitigations include geofiltering, rate limiting, ip blocking, reverse proxy filters, & fail2ban/snort. The last two are the fastest setup that’ll give you the an all around low hanging fruit solution.
No silver bullets.
