My take on why the majority of people are ignorant to the path our political class is taking use down i.e. Authoritarianism.
They view the minor inconvenience of losing incremental amounts of freedoms as they would a small bump on their leg or abdomen. It hurts a little some times but it’s fine. 5 years later they find out they have late stage cancer and either lose a limb or worse. All they needed to do was take the initial lump seriously and lop it off, I bit of energy/pain up front would have saved them immense pain and suffering.
