IV always was a small improvement over II - which is fine, macro system is super useful and helps with enjoying the grind - and the story is a nice epilogue to the whole series. Comparing it to [i]Final Fantasy[/i] is a mistake though, that series always preferred revolution and experimentation in the game systems over gradual improvements; I find it more appropriate to compare PS against DQ instead.

Also, PSIII is good once you look past its overwhelming shoddiness, I really like the branching storyline.
