I'm definitely bothered by temporal dithering on some monitors...in an aesthetic way. I can't say I've ever thought about it giving me eye strain at all though, and I highly doubt it does. I just think it looks bad.
The black-frame insertion on this cheap Vizio TV someone gave me does give me a headache though; when I figured out how to turn it off the headaches immediately stopped happening. That's not the same thing though.
