They really don't understand that war isn't like a sportsball game. It's a diplomatic option, there is no winning or losing. There's obtaining the most favorable conditions you can get and bailing out when that's no longer possible. Ukraine is burning through it's future by drafting everything they fucking can as if they're fighting aliens or zombies that will eat them all if they don't. Surrender means you get to have a country, fighting to the literal last man means that even if you inconvenience Russia, you will not have a country left once the war finally grinds to a halt.
