The last few times I've been to German anarchist spaces, there's a topic that keeps coming up: the seemingly irreconcilable divide between the activist scene, and what we might call the lower classes—blue collar workers; rural folk; minors; the homeless; immigrants. There is this sense of shock, "I thought the rebellious kids would fix global warming but now Gen Z is swinging to the right?? The AfD has more supporters within the youth than the old? Mexicans are voting for Trump?" The general attitude is of bafflement and grief; surely the world is lost.
