My sibs and I sometimes play "was it abuse, or just bad parenting?"
Amazingly, the sister who once got hit with a stick 100 times by our mom usually takes the "not abuse" side.
Dad demanded a promise not to fuck this one gross boy. Sis was so outraged (it never crossed her mind!) she refused. So mom decided to literally beat a promise out of her.
