this is typical history... i heard so many similar stories when i was in the balkans, also many fights for no reason there
i'm also quite charmed that people are remembering their ancient tribal heritage... even if it's the backdrop of bullshit it's still a backdrop that has some part in the equations
yeah, going downhill is a real problem without good brakes
and places with steep hills are a nightmare without the right gearing, like, if i could keep up enough speed to keep balance but barely faster than a walk on my bicycle, i'd probably not pause for breath, because the lowest gearing on it right now is too high but more than high enough to enable me to stay off my feet, so, it's too high
i know i remember riding bikes at some time that gear 1 was so low you could stay pace on flat with a walking person beside you and not touch the ground
there's a lot of moving parts in that but the scooter has a big advantage in this because it's center of gravity is so much lower than a bicycle
so, as for plans for mischief, what i have in my mind now a couple of things - need always to charge below capacity because electronic braking needs headroom on the battery
for safety, if the whole electronics suddenly fails, for braking, there must be discs, but ideally they are designed as secondary so they don't actuate first until the electronic brake is failing
i kinda doubt anyone has thought about this whole equation well yet, we are in early days with how to make use of the efficiency of electric motors since now we have relatively efficient batteries at a weight low enough to be practical
i'm not convinced about any of them, i've tested the limits of a couple of different examples of various engineering ideas about how to do it and i've found flaws in them that make most of the market offerings ... unappealing
