Had a person offended that I mentioned them as a ‘coworker’ to another person: “Coworker?! I told them you’re my friend!” - and was kinda puzzled.
I wouldn’t tell they see me as a friend: we don’t meet outside the work, at work we barely talk about things not related to that work, they don’t seem particularly interested about hearing anything from me, I know almost nothing about how they are, what’s going on in their life, and when they do share something (usually in form of complaints near the office coffee maker) - I am usually the last to hear the news, and so on…
I am a person who doesn’t have friends - I mean, I may like people and feel good in company of some, and feel friendly towards them, but since maybe middle school I don’t think anyone views me as a friend - I mean, an actual friend, not just an acquaintance
Now I am thinking - maybe I put too much into that word? Maybe it’s like with love and all of that: too much weight and significance put there by literature and cinema, and just, as usual, my #autism doesn’t let me distinguish well between fictional ideals and actual social standards?
