Are Yuki Usagi (雪うさぎ, snow rabbits) a Japan-only thing? The ears are usually made from bamboo or camellia leaves (they are perennial, so the leaves don't drop in Winter), and the eyes are made with Nandina berries. They don't normally have whiskers
It's actually pretty funny that in Card Captor Sakura, Kero-chan always calls Yukito Yuki Usagi too.
