The Sodium Reactor Experiment (SRE) was a prototype reactor by LA for sodium-cooled graphite-moderated reactors (SGRs). It was thought that high-temperature, low-pressure sodium coolant with fuel-conservative neutron moderation would make low-cost nuclear plants.
