I’m tempted to write a blog post about #Gaza, but I’m not sure that anyone is capable of nuance.
After reading through https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_Strip to refamiliarize myself, a whole bunch of things came to mind, so I’ll share two of them in brief.
Gaza isn’t occupied, it’s blockaded, but the blockade isn’t exclusively held by Israel. Egypt, which used to run Gaza, has joined with Israel in maintaining this blockade because it doesn’t want 2M refugees added to its population of 108M. No other Arab neighbor wants them, either because they fundamentally don’t care about these people and find them useful as a tool against Israel. That’s why some of them fund Hamas. Netanyahu is stupid, evil excrement. If he was intelligent, he’d ensure that Gaza had sufficient access to all the necessities and let it rejoin with the West Bank, forming a single government as a separate state. Instead, he’s deprived the Gazans, propping up Hamas and motivating them to sneak in everything they need through tunnels to Egypt.
