For the 1:10 scale Connection Machine 2 I'm playing with a translucent black filament front panel with an opaque black filament backer that also provides a light channel for each LED so that (hopefully) their lights won't bleed into one another. The LEDs are in a grid that is 0.1" center to center so it's a tight fit. In this slicer view the pink is the translucent black and the gray is the opaque filament. I'm not sure whether round or square channels make sense.
