I'm amazed, I expected frozen threads after all those years. It's a sealed cartridge and seemed pretty clean and smooth-running, so I greased the threads and reinstalled it, and will concentrate my efforts on the chainrings for now. They're worn and also covered with build-up from the wax chain lube, which I have tried to clean off, but I'll probably order new ones since these are from '93.
