npub14a8rtz73znr44lsn4vxzn4pw7vzgxjsduuqmrkw78qfgfuhrszmsfp98jg (npub14a8…98jg) Nightmare is the proper term here, yes. I fear that even in the unlikely event that I get rid of every scale insect on the cherry tree, there will surely be at least one “pregnant” survivor elsewhere in my garden.
I feel your pain over the peach trees: I have a 4 or 5 year old apricot tree with the same symptoms. It bears many flowers in the spring, but I have yet to see a single apricot (they wither and die before reaching the size of even a small pea). 😒
On a side note: If you have grown the peach trees from seeds, do you know what the peaches will be like?
The only apple I really like is Kanzi (organic variety: Nicoter), and I would love to have a Kanzi tree in my garden. This variety is never for sale, though, so I thought of growing a tree from seeds. But then somebody told me they have likely been pollinated by crap apples so their offspring will never bear apples that even resemble a Kanzi apple.
Capitalism sucks as much as scale insects do.
