Aquas stands out as the only stage in the entire game where rather than the Arwing or Landmaster, you pilot the Blue Marine. The stage is also very dark, so you're encouraged to constantly fire torpedos (the Blue Marine's equivalent of bombs, but unlike the Arwing and Landmaster's bombs, the torpedos are in infinite supply) as they light up the area briefly.
