What’s disheartening is that some folks foresaw that we would need a decentralized protocol, so they (who had been instrumental in creating decentralized social networks, going back to the mid-00s) worked together through the W3C standards process to create recommendations, which those who are now building competing protocols have decidedly snubbed.",
