Only the width and height vary, and the render pipeline can load the image to determine those values. By keeping what’s in the Markdown simple and semantic, the final HTML can evolve over time (for example, by adding the decoding and loading attributes which didn’t used to exist). If one buys into the idea of Markdown, using the HTML IMG tag seems like the anti-pattern to me.
