UNLESS it's zero anyway (which happens to be true in my case, and might be true in yours as well?). The scale factor seems to somehow affect the position (yes, even if it's zero! It becomes negative then), so taking it out of the equation "fixes" things in that case. However, if it's *not* zero, the result will be wrong again, I think.
