The problem is that Bitcoin genuinely does have privacy issues. It's tough to glean a proper solution from the existing setup without using something like Monero, which is why I refuse to cast it aside in favor of Bitcoin only.
I'm not saying that Monero is inherently better overall but it does generally have better privacy, so using it in conjunction with Bitcoin, reserved for the purchases that you don't particularly want everybody knowing about is, in my opinion, a win.
There are definitely more threats to privacy than someone in Argentina knowing you bought coffee with Bitcoin. It doesn't even have to be anything illegal. It could just be something you don't want everybody in the world knowing about forever.
