I tend to get pretty frustrated when it comes to the "only if it's really bad" guy.
It's very easy to condemn the extremities, i.e. a literal Nazi. But I still want people to speak up even when it's insidious, i.e. your friend making casual "not so bad" jokes and remarks.
I find that a lot of the time the reason things get "really bad" behind closed doors, it more has to do with laziness and spinelessness. No one wants to be the one to deal with this, they just keep quiet and hope that the problem goes away.
