As for the rest - that is interesting, and even as I'm reading I legit was thinking that there must be a psychosocial connection to Indonesia's occupation/colonial behaviour, and there it is. Though I was thinking of Papua only for the reason you mentioned (being still around). That's not particularly a political mindset that comes naturally for us here (though god knows some factions try), or more accurately, institutionally.
