Makes sense in the context of 1:1 relationships. But in the context of broadcasting, you want to know how many people will receive your content and how many actually saw it (like for a newsletter).
That being said, there is something beautiful about not measuring everything. Beauty is not something that can be measured. And since we always end up optimizing for what we measure, we end up with a less beautiful world.
