"content": "cinder cones are largely made up of small chunks burped out of a volcanic vent that harden as boulders (and smaller) rather than the huge lava flows erupted by the Columbia River Basalt Group that cooled in sheets covering hundreds of square km and were many meters thick.\n\nThe red chunks of lava coming out of the vent in this video will cool to boulders rather than one solid mass.
