Since I'm starting at zero, does that mean I should go to Starbucks (or whatever other example is used) each month and ask them to give me the monetary equivalent of one coffee?
Suggesting that people cut [x] expense to do something else (that you want) with their money assumes they have that cost to begin with. That falls flat for anyone who lacks that or any similar discretionary expense.
