People are really writing off these tax proposals as not important because of the $100m number. They are wrong and here is why.
The NFA act created a $200 tax on transfers of certain firearms in 1934. Inflation adjusted that is $4700 in today's money. That is based on CPI which consistently underestimates real inflation.
Today that tax is still $200, never adjusted for inflation. That tax would benefit the government and hurt the people to adjust for inflation and they still didn't do it.
When the inflation curve goes verticle, $100m is going to be a fast food wage. To adjust the $100m would hurt the government and help the people. Do you really think it will happen?
More likely they'll be trying to tax you on gains for every single thing you own because it all had nominal USD value gains due to inflation. Your 10 year old car is worth double what it cost new, better pay tax on your "gains."
