I don't mind paying a relatively small amount for literal hours of entertainment, not at all. Ads are just unacceptable for me, however.
My issue with this move though is that there is no way for me to pay YouTube while also watching stuff semi-anonymously. I don't want my real name, address and so on tied to what I watch, even if all I watch is totally harmless.
