A new study investigates the origin of the "German" cockroach (Blattella germanica). Scientists were in agreement that it wasn't actually German but could never identify its native range. It turns out that's because it's a species that evolved only ~2000 years ago in Southern Asia, and it only lives with us! What an honor, to have whole species that have evolved to be our symbionts! 🙄
