If you're wondering why our federal political system is primarily composed of old geezers in office, consider this: The U.S. population is aging out from a combination of anti-family policies that have been put in place since the 1970s (be they the legalization and promotion of abortion, feminism, no-fault-divorce, etc). And the invasion at the border, assuming the people who illegally enter stay permanently, won't be enough to offset this trend. That is, if you convinced me that these are the types of people we need to offset this trend at all, which we don't.
This is not a coincidence. A population mostly composed of the geriatric is much more dependent on government services since their progeny is too small in proportion for their economic support. This dependence fosters more and more dependence until, finally, we have people like Pelosi and Biden in office to appeal to the broadest age-categories, yet clearly too old and decrepit to fulfill their duties. It also fosters an attitude of anti-independence on part of the elderly for fear that any such movement would destroy their taxpayer-subsidized benefits (even though the current system is doomed to fail anyway since it's an overglorified ponzi scheme). Ergo, independence movements are nullified while government expands, at least til it all falls apart. That's socialism for you.
And if you think Trump is somehow seperate from this dynamic, think again. Why else do you think he's been so silent about secession and TEXIT despite both being more popular than ever? Because they're both contrary to the concerns of a big chunk of his retired boomer base. And possibly even his bottom line since Trump, as a brand, is international.
This is not to say that Trump is worse than Biden. Or better than DeSantis. When it comes to the lesser of the evils, Trump and Desantis are by far the least, bar none. But I'm no fool. Because when it comes to campaigns, everyone has an agenda, and it's not always for YOUR best interests as much as it is for someone else's.
That's politics for you.
