correct. microSD backs up your original wallet. unless passport has a seed lock-down feature, each time you power it on it will be the base wallet, then you enter the passphrase to access the passphrase wallet for that session.
so your original backup is really all you need to recover any number of passphrase wallets based on it (as long as you remember the passphrases)
