BTW, if you have any interest at all in urban planning (and how it can go both right and very wrong), I strongly recommend learning about Robert Moses in New York City. I would assert he was the most controversial urban planner of all time (if that's the right term, he had very broad responsibilities and control in many areas, even though he never held an elected position). Much of what NYC is today, for better or worse, is due to this one individual.
The classic study of Robert Moses, still widely read, is Robert A. Caro's (very long) book "The Power Broker" (1974), which won the 1975 Pulitzer Prize. It's also interesting to watch the various interviews of Caro over the years about this book, many of which are on #YouTube. Apparently there are hundreds of pages written that didn't make it into the actual book because it was already so long.
