actually Elon's strategy is brilliant. he eliminates everybody by default and then re-hires only those people back who are actually needed.

i actually do the same thing with friends and family - i eliminate them all - and then only allow some back if i see a reason to.

otherwise you're just in this mess where you're drowning in a soup of useless people who all feel entitled to something - Steve Jobs called this "Bozo Explosion"

you should only ever deal with people who are both brilliant and feel the need to prove themselves to you
