I watched 1996’s Fargo again last night. It was a decent film, but I am always astonished by the cult-like accolades that get heaped on Coen brother’s films. Despite the marvelous casting, acting and visuals, I never found most of them all that good. There’s just something about irreverent sarcasm about American tropes, cliches, attitudes and genre parodies that played really well with boomer and Gen X film critics. I’m sure someone will vehemently disagree.
