Those things are real. But they don't tell us why the universe is the way it is -- why the laws and physical constants are set up in such a way that intelligence and consciousness are possible. (That's one question that the idea of a multiverse attempts to answer by saying that there are huge numbers of universes that don't support life, and, naturally, we happen to be observing from inside one that does. It's monkeys and typewriters, but with universes instead of Shakespeare plays.)

I'm not arguing for the existence of any god. I'm not a member of any religion. I'm just arguing for the humility to accept that there are areas that science can't probe, and theology is one of them.
