Just remember folks, it is nearly impossible to evacuate from a disaster area if you don’t have a car and have a pet. It is also hard if you have medical equipment. Natural disasters don’t equalize society — they grind the poor down, the push people over the edge into lifelong poverty and homelessness, and they kill those who cannot evacuate. This is exacerbated in areas without good public services, and in areas with historically low trust in government.
