If I sent Fiat money from one place to another, it gets transferred for free? If so, who bears the expense ? If it's not free, how does it show as all the amount I send, I receive in the other app/bank?

I transferred ETH from trust wallet to Robinhood and it cost me 0.25$. How is it better for me to use crypto other than the fact that Bitcoin is decentralized ?
