I think the problem mostly is that "sea of packages" OSes don't support very basic requirements of modern apps. Multiplex depends on a specific version of the `pion` WebRTC library, but weron depends on a different specific version of that library too. With a sea of packages and no Flatpak - no way to model that environment. APT, DNF etc. don't really allow different (minor) versions of the same package locally for a lot of (good) reasons :)
