There's certainly some degree of it being about what you're already familiar with, but honestly Android has been getting worse for performance, privacy, and innovation since somewhere around 4, and we're on 15 now. I still use it just because iOS isn't Android, the same way you want Android to be iOS. I don't exactly prefer Android to iOS any more, I just hate it slightly less than iOS.
