6 months ago I joined X for the first time. Twitter never made any sense to me because it just didn't jive with my personality.
But I joined because there were some important people that were putting content only on there.
My initial reaction was "holy shit this algo is crack" largely because I'm a tech geek and I can't resist reverse engineering.
6 months on and I think I'm done. It's all political BS, fear, shit posting, tits and arse.
I wish there was a reset button on the algo. And that's the point of this post.
These algos exist within a somewhat chaotic system, and they naturally either inadvertently or by design draw the individual out to the extreme of whatever they might have paused on while scrolling.
I have an old mouse where the mouse wheel does it's own thing quite a bit. I live with it because it provides random input into algos like that.
Does anyone else wish there was a reset button so they can rediscover that sweet spot which the machine missed?
