#pip has a new dependency: proxy.py.
I'm not sure what it exactly is. Its description is basically an incomprehensible bubble of buzzwords. However, I'm pretty sure that an accurate description would use acronyms such as "YOLO" and "NIH".
https://pypi.org/project/proxy.py/2.4.4/
An article describing it is linked, except that it is down, and apparently the author lost the contents to the "cloud".

Also, it fails tests in so many ways. It fails tests in general, for reasons I couldn't figure out. Then, it fails more tests with modern versions of pytest-asyncio. Then, it fails more tests with #Python 3.12. And of course it fails a few more tests with #PyPy, and then hangs.

https://github.com/abhinavsingh/proxy.py/issues/1427
https://github.com/abhinavsingh/proxy.py/issues/1428
https://github.com/abhinavsingh/proxy.py/issues/1429
And these are just the things that I've reproduced via tox. Things are even worse when run via ebuild, but with all these issues in the way, there's not even a point in trying to dig deeper.
Yes, gotta love upstreams who are adding new dependencies with zero concern about how well maintained they are.
